“The War To End All Wars”
"The war to end all wars" is what everyone thought was going to happen with WWI that after the war all the counties would be at peace and there would be no more wars.

The War Begins
There were four reasons why this war happened:
-Nationalism
-Allies
-Triple Eutente(Russia, France, Great Britten)
-Triple Alliance(Germany, Australia, Italy)
-Militarism
-Imperialism
The war really began with the assassination of arch duke ferinand who was the heir to the Austrian-Hungarian throne. This set off a chain reaction. Austraria blamed Serbia and Russia protected Serbia. And within a week of the assassination most of Europe was at war.
The War
WWI was a devastating war because of 2 things weapons and strategies. The main new strategy of WWI was Trench Warfare because both sides would did out trenches and fire at each other and when one side tried to charge the other side would just mow them down. Another thing that was invented that helped strategically was airplanes because you were able to see what the other side is doing. They also had Submarines or U-boats as they would call them and they were strategic because they could threaten trade and not be detected. They also had barbed wire to protect there trenches.
Another thing that made WWI such a devastating war was weapons. The first and main weapon that was invented and used was the machine gun and since it was so much easier to reload and fire it was a lot more devastating then the weapons used in say the civil war. Another weapon that was invented was poison gas which was used to get rid of a lot of people at one time but sometimes the wind would change and it would backfire on whoever set it off.
